Press Release: Asi@Connect Workshop

The College of Science and Technology organized the workshops on 1) “Content creation for e-Learning/LMS/VLE” and 2)  “System Administration and Network Monitoring” funded by the European Union and TEIN in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Department of Information Technology & Telecom at Dusit D2 Yarkay in Thimphu from 13th - 15th October 2021. 

A total of 35 participants comprising of teachers, academic heads, and education officers attended the first workshop. The teachers and academic heads were mostly from the identified schools of Gedu HSS, Kamji Central School, and Pakshikha Central School except for two teachers from Druk School and Changangkha MSS respectively were given the opportunity for their keen interest to attend the workshop. The workshop was aimed to train the school teachers, principals, vice-principals, and education officers to create content for the e-Learning/Learning management system/Virtual Learning Environment which has become important for online learning and blended learning necessitated by the pandemic.

A total of 15 participants consisting of lab assistants, IT teachers, and ICT personnel from the Dzongkhag, MoE, and DITT attended the second workshop. This workshop was designed for school lab assistants and ICT officers working at schools, district office, and Ministry of Education especially involved with system management, network monitoring and management, troubleshooting, and Moodle LMS administration. The main objective of the program is to train the IT lab assistants and ICT officers who will be responsible for the management of systems and networks for supporting e-Learning in schools. 

The participants generally felt the workshops were very useful and timely, though the duration of 3-days was short to learn all that was required.
