Start-up Event in CST

On 21 st October 2021, the Royal University of Bhutan is organizing a Business Idea Competition among the 9 colleges including RTC and NRC. The competition is organized to promote an entrepreneurial mindset of students and support winners to establish their businesses.

The top 3 winners will be awarded Singaporean $10K sponsored by Mr. George Gho. Also, they would receive incubation space in the Incubation Centre of the respective college further helping them to kick start the business and create a proper network in and out of the country. A selected business idea/group from each college will compete with 8 business ideas of other colleges. For this, all colleges have organized a business idea competition at their college level; to screen out the best business idea and prepare for the competition at the university level in Thimphu.

 
Therefore, as per the directives, the CST college had organized the first phase of the Business Idea Pitching competition from 10th - 12th September on campus. The competition received a total of 84 participants, out of which, 50 participated in person, while 34 participated through the Zoom conference. On the first day of the programme, 49 ideas were elevated, of which 18 were selected. In the following two days of the startup workshop, 18 groups were formed to work on their half-baked ideas by conceptualizing the Lean Canvas Business Model, preparing Business Proposals, and developing Prototypes. On 12th September, the 18 business ideas were pitched in presence of 5 judges from various technical backgrounds; thereby, 10 ideas were shortlisted to further develop their ideas. These 10 ideas are expected to compete in the next phase of the competition on the 26th of September coinciding with the college foundation day.

A winner from the second phase of the competition will participate and challenge other RUB colleges at OVC in Thimphu.
